I'm Sick and I Know Why...
Hello Everyone,
I'm a little under the weather on the day of this post, and it always seems as
though I forget what it feels like to be healthy when it hurts to swallow.  It's a whole
other plane of existence being sick, with two choices...1. you either grit your teeth and
bare with all of the discomfort ...or 2.  Stock up on a pile of drugs to sedate yourself
for the duration.  I suppose I'm somewhat of an inbetween person when it comes to
this issue, because I'm all for using natural things to get up my immune system,
such as eating more fruits and vegetables, and drinking loads of tea.  But, when
night time hits, and I can't breathe, nor get a wink of sleep,  bring on the Ny-quil!!!  I
once heard someone talk about not believing in the use of western medicine, and
that it's just a ploy to get us all dependent on quick cures that aren't really necessary.
To some degree, I think that may be true... I mean we'll take some form of Tylenol or
something comparable, the instant we feel a little touch of a headache brewing.
Many of these common cold symptoms can be prevented through eating properly,
exercise, and rest.
Now, I'm not trying to come across like a doctor's office help pamphlet,  but if you
think about the things leading up to a sickness, it's not usually a huge surprise.  In
my case,  I stayed out late at the bar this past weekend, not getting a whole lot of
sleep, and inhaling an absurd amount of second hand smoke (I certainly cannot wait
til' PA bars take a que from NY, and eliminate smoking...I don't mind in the least that
someone smokes, as long as I don't have to smoke with them).  Accompany that with
a lack of sleep, a mix of cold weather, and a lot of rehearsing, and you've got the
perfect potion for a good old fashion cold.   Soooo...it then becomes a matter of
weighing the consequences,  was doing what I did worth the way I feel now?
Sounds simple...it just may be.  At least then we can't have excuses, and we can
regain control.
Soooooo... I suppose it's time for me to get some rest.  Until next time stay safe,
healthy, and enjoy the rough cut songs on myspace.
Peace Always,
Adam
